Youth Choirs at Saint Mark’s
The involvement of children and youth in music is of great importance at St, Mark’s Cathedral, and is vital for the future of music in the Episcopal Church. Future organists, choirmasters, and adult choir members come from this early exposure to our great tradition.
The Small Singers is our choir for children 4 years through 1st grade. “Small Singers” will be offered Sunday mornings. Children may meet the director, Rebecca Poppke, in the Chapter House room. New Small Singers are always welcome; please contact Rebecca Poppke to learn more.
The Cathedral Choristers provide an opportunity for children and teenagers who enjoy music and singing to use this passion to help lead our worship, and to further their skills and understanding. The choir is directed by Canon Musician Raymond Johnston, with individual vocal coaching from Harriet McCleary who is on the staff in the Music Department at St. Olaf College.
The Cathedral Choristers are ages 8-16 and they practice on Wednesday nights 6:15-7:00.
They sing with the Cathedral Choir on the first Sunday of the month at the 10.30 service.
For further details or an audition, please contact Raymond Johnston.
