CANMN is a volunteer-led mutual aid organization serving the residents of Minneapolis. CANMN works to build mutual aid bonds with Minneapolis neighbors, organize volunteers and redistribute resources to ensure everyone has the means for dignified survival. Saint Mark’s participation in the downtown churches’ Sunday Night Supper ministry continues on the second Sunday of each month!  Gathering from 4:15 - 6 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, Minneapolis (corner of Groveland and LaSalle, a close drive from Loring Park), we prepare and serve over 100 neighborhood guests with hot meals “to-go.”

All Saint Markans are welcome to join our volunteer group!  We greet people/welcome guests into the space, prepare food in the kitchen, sort through fruits/vegetables/desserts/bread, and/or prepare bags with silverware and the boxed meals. Some roles can be done in a seated position.

ESILC is located in the Loring Park neighborhood. Saint Mark’s seeks to serve the needs of the students and families through our relationship with the Parent Teacher Association. Groveland Food Shelf is a non-profit providing emergency groceries for hungry individuals in the Minneapolis area and is located at Plymouth Congregational Church. About 2,000 clients are served per month and more than 40,000 pounds of food are distributed. Saint Mark's is a founding congregation member of the Groveland Food Shelf.

Support is given through monetary donations and food donations (directly to the food shelf) and by having a Saint Markan sit on the organization’s board. Minneapolis College, one of the Saint Mark’s partners, also distributes food through Groveland Food Shelf at the Student Resource Center on campus. Minneapolis College, located in the Loring Park neighborhood, is a public two-year college enrolling more than 11,000 credit students annually and is an active partner in initiatives designed to strengthen the social, economic and cultural vitality of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Saint Mark’s, in partnership with the Minnesota Council of Churches Refugee Services, a local affiliate of Episcopal Migration Ministries, has co-sponsored the resettlement of an Afghan refugee family in the local area. Episcopal Migration Ministries is the refugee resettlement ministry of The Episcopal Church, proudly carrying on a century-old legacy of Episcopal ministries that welcome immigrants and refugees. In that same spirit, we have a team of cathedral members to assist with various aspects of resettlement. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Lindsay Strand.
