In keeping with the Lent Madness concentration on the Saints, the Book Shop is recommending reading Drinking with the Saints, The Sinner’s Guide to a Holy Happy Hour, by Michael Foley. This book has a saint and a drink for every day of the year. Each entry day talks about the saint and then gives the reader the recipe for a drink, all done with an irreverent twist, so it is quite amusing to read.
Another recommendation is Accidental Saints, Finding God in all the Wrong People by Nadia Bolz-Weber. Nadia was at Saint Mark’s for the Why Christian? Conference a year ago. She writes about meeting people in unusual places who turn out be saints.
We have a children’s book, Meet the Saints, which families can read together. There are coloring opportunities also!
The final idea with the saints in mind is My Life with the Saints by James Martin who is a Jesuit priest; it won a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year.
All sorts of saintly opportunities await. So come and see…
