We are not calling our events ‘Mission’ trips–that suggests we are bringing something that is lacking. We are celebrating the relationships we are fostering. Our White Earth trip is called a ‘Ma Wa Disi Daa’, which means ‘visit’ in Ojibwe. Summer in the City is the same, a visit.
These are an important part of our youth program at Saint Mark’s. We do these same trips annually to establish relationships with those we meet. Why? This gives us a chance to look outside ourselves, engage in service together, reach out and meet others we normally wouldn't, to be Christ's hands and feet in the world. Both of these youth opportunities will provide priceless memories and lessons and be very full of fun, energy and community.
