2019 Dean’s Easter Appeal
Circle of the Beloved
Dear Saint Mark’s Members & Friends,
As you know, each spring, the Dean extends an ‘Easter Appeal’ inviting you to join together as we express our deep gratitude for the life we share in the Risen Body of Christ. In addition to our songs of praise and thanks, our community also expresses its gratitude in the form of generosity, giving regularly for service to the world ‘God so loved’ and now loves through us – and we practice this discipline every Christmas and Easter.
The annual Christmas Appeal supports Saint Mark’s LionHeart Scholarships at Minneapolis College, targeting students from the near North Side and those experiencing housing insecurity. And, for the third year in a row, the annual Easter Appeal will support ‘Circle of the Beloved,’ the Minnesota Branch of the Episcopal Service Corps. Denise Graber, St. Mark’s member and Director of CoB, describes it this way:
“Circle of the Beloved is a group of young adults from a variety of backgrounds who, following the Way of Jesus, seek to “foster kinship across lines of difference” by serving among our neighbors and by living together in intentional community.
These four young adults work in non-profits throughout the greater Twin Cities, focusing on opportunity gaps within North Minneapolis, the neighborhood in which we live and serve. Our work would not be possible without the individuals, congregations and businesses who support our organization and the work we do.
Your support, in the form of relationships, prayers, and financial contributions makes our work possible. Through you, and your generosity, we are equipped to live out our mission of relationship and service. For you, and for St. Markan’s Anna Ostenso-Moore and Mary Lusk who serve as board members, we are thankful beyond measure.
Every gift makes a significant impact, and any act of support – your gift of time, talent, and/or treasure – is received with grateful hearts!
For more information about Circle of the Beloved visit us online at www.circleofthebeloved.org and follow us on FaceBook at “Circle of the Beloved” to find out about upcoming events and opportunities to be in relationship with us and our neighbors.”
Many of us can point to our own ‘service learning’ experiences as the context within which the Gospel first came to life for us. Circle of the Beloved ensures that same discovery will happen for others: shaping hearts and minds today that will provide faithful leadership through the challenges of tomorrow.
Friends, please prayerfully consider the way and the level at which you wish to support this incredible program, which is changing lives and the world at the same time. Previous years contributions include $10,320 in 2017 and $7020 in 2018.
Financial contribution may be made in any of the following ways:
- Mail cash or check (include ‘Circle of the Beloved’ in the memo line) to:
Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral
519 Oak Grove Street
Minneapolis, MN 55403
- Using designated ‘Dean’s Appeal’ envelopes in the pews, place cash or check in the envelope then into the offering plate during the Season of Easter, through June 2.
- Pay through Saint Mark’s Tithe.ly account designated for ‘Easter Appeal’
- Contact Circle of the Beloved directly through their website @ circleofthebeloved.org
However you choose to do it, know that you’re joining with your Bishop and other Episcopalians across Minnesota to make visible Christ’s victory over death!
With gratitude for your prayerful and generous response,
