Friends in Christ,
As we reflect on the words of Psalm 23 and the prayer,
“O God, whose Son Jesus is the good shepherd of your people…”, we
are reminded that we are not left to wander alone. We are called—each
by name—into relationship with the One who leads us, guides us, and
knows us more deeply than we know ourselves.
In this season of transition, both for me personally
and for us as a community, that truth feels especially important. As
I step into a new role with the wider Church, I carry with me deep
gratitude for the life we share at the Cathedral and the ways we continue
to listen for Christ’s voice together.
The questions we are asking—about who we are in God’s
world and who we are called to be—are not unique to Saint Mark’s.
They are the questions of the whole Church. They are the questions of
any faithful community seeking to follow the Good Shepherd with honesty
and courage.

Here at the Cathedral, as we look ahead to the future and anticipate
the calling of a new Dean, we continue this sacred work of
discernment. It is holy work, even when it is uncertain.
And the world around us reminds us why it matters.
People are still hungry.
People are still marginalized.
People are still searching—hungry not only for food,
but for hope, for dignity, and for the assurance that they are known
and loved by God.
We are called to be part of that answer—to help make
visible the presence of the One who loves more deeply than we can
imagine.
So we listen.
We follow.
We trust that the Shepherd is still leading
us—together—into what comes next.
I also want to share an important scheduling change.
Due to my unexpected travel on April 26, we will move the dedication
of the Saint Mark’s Lion and the gratitude and blessing of our former
Deans to Sunday, May 17. We will also hold a celebration for our
graduating seniors that day.
May 17 will be a joyful and meaningful occasion as we
honor the Saint Markans of the past and celebrate the Saint Markans
of the present and future in our graduating seniors.
Thank you for your understanding with this change. I
feel strongly called to be present for these important moments in our
shared life.
With gratitude and hope,
Tim+
