Summer Book Reading: ‘If Women Rose Rooted’

Ifwomenrose

Author: Sharon Blackie

My name is Emily Hoch, and I am the Librarian at Saint Mark’s Community Library. I’ve been a member of Saint Mark’s for almost 4 years, and I’ve been working with the library for about 4.5 years. I was attracted to Saint Mark’s for the community, the architecture, the wealth of spiritual programming, and, of course, the library. Right now I’m reading a book called If Women Rose Rooted  by Irish author Sharon Blackie. Blackie is a clinical psychologist turned mythologist and storyteller.

In this book, she explores the heroine’s spiritual journey by looking to Celtic folklore, mythology, and how one can feel rooted by connecting to nature and the cycles of the seasons. This is one of my favorite books, and I am reading it for a second time. If Women Rose Rooted is nourishing, empowering, and enchanting. If this book piques your interest, you can find it in the Saint Mark’s Community Library.
