The Easter Season

The Lord is Risen!

The Lord is risen indeed!

This joyful call and response for Easter morning is a beloved part of our liturgy. These simple words embody the most important tenet of our faith-that the God who is love became us, in order to love us back to life. Because of this, death no longer has power to destroy us. And, we have been given the Holy Spirit of God to dwell amongst and through us, so that we in turn may love and serve others in the way of Christ.

As we move into this new season, how do we keep Easter alive in our hearts and in our community? How do we keep love alive when the petals of the lily wilt, when we go back to our regular routines and lives, and when dark clouds of worry and weariness role in.

While hope can suddenly burst out and fill our hearts, lasting hope comes from the day to day practices of our common lives, together turning our hearts fully toward God.

This Easter season at the cathedral will be focused on exactly that-rituals, routines and practices of our communal life that gather us, remind us of who and whose we are, and build toward the beloved community we are called to be.

Keep watch for information regarding Climate Justice, First Nations Kitchen, The Call to Serve, Community meals, Study of Scripture, Tai Chi Chih, LGBTQ+ gatherings, and even more!

And of course, the regular rituals continue with Tuesday Morning Prayer, Wednesday Evening Prayer, Wednesday Eucharist, and weekend Worship services.

We look forward to this season and to your presence with us!
