Newcomers’ Gathering, Sunday, May 10

The next Newcomers’ Gathering will be held at the Cathedral following the 10:30 service on Sunday, May 10. If you are new to St. Mark’s we’d like to get to know you and hear about your experience at St. Mark’s. What brought you here the first time, and what brings you back? You will meet some of St. Mark’s leaders as well as other Newcomers, have a chance to ask questions about the life of the Cathedral, and learn about opportunities to connect.

The gathering will be held in the Heritage Room which is on the Nave level. Light refreshments will be available and a brief tour of the building will be offered. The gathering concludes by 1:00 p.m. We hope you will join us.

Sunday Night Supper, May 10

We invite you to explore more about this program and the love it gives out every 2nd Sunday Evening of the Month from 4:15 to 7:00 PM. Saint Mark's joins with Plymouth Congregational Church and the FIrst Unitarian Society to serve hot meals to over 100 neighbors in need. It’s a warm, welcoming evening of food, care, and community.

Choose a shift that fits your schedule and interests:

·    Cooking crew starts at 2:00 PM.

·    Opening shift runs from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and includes setup, distributing bread, fruit, and hygiene items, and serving guests.

·    Closing shift goes from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and focuses on serving and cleanup.

We gather at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1900 Nicollet Ave. Park in the lot and enter through the main entrance—someone at the front desk will guide you to our workspace.

Our work takes place in the church’s basement kitchen and dining room. Guests are welcomed inside to enjoy their meal or pick up items to go.

One Small Tag. One Big Welcome.

Wearing your name tag at church isn’t just helpful—it’s a game changer! It turns a sea of faces into a community of friends, making sure everyone feels welcome and included. Don’t have a name tag yet? No worries, just see Emmanuel Wilson or Sally Cuningham and we’ll get one ready for you in no time. Name tags make those “Hi…uh…you!” moments a thing of the past, and as we get ready to welcome our new Dean, let’s make their introduction to our church family as smooth and friendly as possible. Slip on your name tag, spark new connections, and help make our congregation a place where everyone belongs!

Wells Foundation Grant Spotlight

University Episcopal Community (UEC)

The Wells Foundation is an independent non-profit charitable foundation managed by Saint Markans, granting funds to organizations serving the needs of our communities. Here is one of the organizations we support:

The University Episcopal Community (UEC) in Minneapolis is a vibrant campus ministry cultivating connection, spiritual growth, and belonging among college students and young adults. Addressing the prevalent loneliness many 20-somethings experience — 22% report having no friendships and 70% report fewer than three meaningful interactions per day — UEC strives to offer a nurturing space where individuals can slow down, share stories, partake in meals, and practice prayer together. Often students attending UEC will also visit St Mark's.

UEC hosts Sunday gatherings, intentional shared living in the 417 House, and leadership development all centered around compassionate fellowship and service.

Mark Your Calendars: Pride Month is Coming!

June is Pride Month, and planning is already under at Saint Mark’s, with lots of great opportunities to join in. We’ll transform the Cathedral’s outdoor steps with Pride flag colors, we’ll have a special art exhibit in our Gallery, we’ll wear our Pride T shirts, we’ll march together in the Pride parade, and we’ll worship together at the Pride service here at the Cathedral.

We’re also excited to host a book discussion with Saint Mark’s member and author, Bella Tousignant! We’ll gather (date to be announced) to learn about Bella’s wonderful book, The Uninvited Passenger

For more than 60 years, Bella fought to suppress her authentic self, battling shame, fear and the relentless weight of hiding her identity. But the uninvited passenger - her true self - was always there, demanding to be heard. You can buy Bella’s book through our bookstore here.
