Claiming Everyday Faith, Together:

Fall 2025 Small Groups

As followers of Jesus, we are called to love God and our neighbor, not just conceptually, but wholeheartedly, in every aspect of our lives as individuals and as the community of Saint Mark’s. Listening deeply to others and building the connections we all long for are why the return of small groups is a cornerstone of this ministry.

Saint Mark's Men's Ministry

St. Mark's Men's Ministry will meet on Saturday, October 25 in the Cathedral Library from 9 to 10 am to continue its ongoing conversation about what it means to be a man who follows Jesus Christ and his call to love during a contentious time in our communities.

Our conversations have been wide-ranging, occasionally informed by AI, accepting of differing opinions and always useful. Snacks are typically available throughout the meeting and we close with a simple Eucharist. Come join our diverse group and add to the conversation. We meet monthly on the 4th Saturday of each month, 9 am in the Library, no reservation needed.

Joining the Episcopal Church:

A Preparation Class for Adult Baptism, Confirmation,

"Joining the Episcopal Church” begins next Sunday, October 26 at 9:15 in the Library.

Eight hour-long sessions will offer opportunities for learning, sharing in conversation, asking questions, and discovering more about the Episcopal Church.

New class starts Sunday, October 26. Click for more information

Learn More About our 2026 Annual Giving Campaign

By now, information is in mailboxes about our annual giving campaign for the year ahead. If you haven't received information, letters and pledge cards are available at Saint Mark's. You can also find all the information you need on the Annual Giving page of our church website.

Please plan to join us between services on Sunday, October 26th at 9:30 a.m., to learn more about our annual giving campaign for 2026. During our forum, we'll provide information about our goals and how you can help. After a brief presentation, you'll have a chance to ask questions and get answers about the campaign, about how to pledge and about key dates to keep in mind in the weeks ahead.

Thanks so much for your generous support for Saint Mark's!

All Souls Necrology

The All Souls Necrology will be read and honored at the Evensong service on Sunday November 2, at 5:00 pm. The Necrology is a listing/reading of the names of the departed during the last year, not generations ago!

If you would like to add a name to the list to be read, please email or mail it to Reverend Siri by Friday October 31, Sirih@ourcathedral.org.

November is Groveland Emergency Food Shelf

SOUP DRIVE

The Groveland Food Shelf Is: A non-profit serving our neighbors for 50 years in the Loring Park/Stephens Square neighborhood providing groceries to anyone in need.

Feeding the Hungry: Use of the food shelf has drastically increased. On most days GEFS serves over 200 guests, and we serve about 5,000 guests a month. Groveland is facing a host of external challenges including increased daily visits, high food costs, decreased access to food rescue options, and government funding uncertainty.

You can EASILY help: Each Sunday in November we will be collecting soup for Groveland. Please participate in the soup drive and make a difference in the lives of the hungry. Start collecting soup and drop it off at Saint Mark’s any Sunday in November. For donated cans pop tops are preferred, but single serve microwaveable containers or boxes of soup or Ramen will also be accepted.

In November look for the drop-off areas in the Narthex and the Community room.

Dean Search Committee Update

The Search Committee has been putting the finishing touches on our OTM (Office of Transitional Management) Profile - the 12 questions that we answered to describe specific aspects of our church organization and community. We are also focusing on developing our Parish Profile, which is a more creative presentation of our community using words, pictures, and video.

Once we are finished with this and finalize the OTM questions, we will present these items to the Vestry and the Bishop to be posted. We hope to start reviewing applications in January. Please come to the 9:30 forum on November 2nd to hear more about our process and plans, and watch the Dean's Search page on the website for our progress.

Children’s Worship is held during the 10:30 service. For children ages 3–6, with a little “wiggle room” on either side of the age range. Begins during the Gradual Hymn with gathering at the crossing in the Nave and a procession to the Library. Children will return during the exchange of the Peace.

Gospel Based Discipleship

Fridays, 12:15 pm, online via Zoom

A weekly online meeting to read a passage of scripture and reflect on its meaning. There is no curriculum, no instructor. This is not a class, but a space for thought and reflection, a "mini-retreat" from the week's busyness.

Access the Zoom link here. The gathering lasts only 45-50 minutes, from 12:15 pm until about 1 pm.

Knitting Ministry

A group of dedicated knitters making prayer shawls, scarves, and baby blankets to bless and give to those in need. All are welcome, regardless of skill level! 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10:30 am to Noon in the Library. Questions: email gather@ourcathedral.org.

Reminders - Monthly

Women's Ministry Group

Second Thursday of each month, 6:00 pm, Library

Open to all women, a monthly gathering of fellowship and interesting conversation. We share light snacks that participants would like to bring. There is usually enough for all, so no need to go out of your way if pressed for time. We would love to have you!

Men’s Ministry Group

Fourth Saturday of each month, 9:00 am, Library

Open to all men for fellowship, conversation, snacks, and the Eucharist. The underlying question in each meeting is, “What does it mean to be a man today?” No lectures or settled answers, just old and new friends willing to ask questions and seek answers together. Be a part of the conversation as we discover how God is calling us today. Please join whenever your schedule allows!

From the Book of Common Prayer: For the mission of the church:

God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you, bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit upon all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
