Christian Prayer: Spiritual Prep for Upcoming Liturgical Season
May 10, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
A seasonal lecture held via Zoom on May 10 at 6:30 p.m.
Register here for Part 3 of the Seasonal Lecture Series, led by Jay Phelan.
From its earliest days, the emerging community of Jesus’ followers established patterns of prayer. There were times of prayer for the community as a whole and times of prayer for individuals. In the fourth century, two types of Christian prayer emerged – one focused on the daily prayer of the congregation in the church and the other was rooted in the life of monastics. The Episcopal Church in its Daily Office benefits from both forms of prayer and invites both individuals and community to pray. This lecture will focus on the history and practice of the daily office.
After registering and before the class, you will receive the Zoom link for this online class.
