Garden Love – Benefits

August 18 @ 12:00 pm

O you who dwell in the gardens, my companions are listening for your voice, let me hear it. Song of Songs 8:13 (NRSV)

The garden is in full bloom, a riot of color, as someone once said. The pollinators have found the garden and are busy searching for nectar and inadvertently moving pollen. I saw bumble bees, honeybees, flies and butterflies during a short visit to the garden. I was pleased to see a onarch butterfly on the Joe Pie Weed. Monarchs are apparently having a rough year. We have seen few signs of monarch butterfly eggs or caterpillars in our home garden. When looking at the Saint Mark’s Pollinator Garden don’t forget to look at the garden by the community room emergency exit.

Upcoming garden activities:

Sunday, August 18 after 10:30 service (12 Noon)

Event: experience how the garden benefits people and pollinators (do pollination simulation, taste test honey and other garden products, learn about seed saving).
