Trinity Sunday 2024

"Glory to you, Lord God of our fathers; you are worthy of praise, glory to you."

Dear Cathedral Community,

Preaching on the Trinity is hard. To explain the Trinity, for me, is like staring with the wonders of the night sky in the middle of the ocean and trying to explain its beauty to someone looking up at the same sky in the middle of New York City. Both perspectives are valid, yet they reveal different facets of the same profound mystery.

As we gather to celebrate the Holy Trinity, let us reflect on the glory and majesty of our Triune God, as expressed in Canticle 13: A Song of Praise (Benedictus es, Domine). This beautiful canticle calls us to recognize the splendor of our Lord:

"Glory to you, Lord God of our fathers; you are worthy of praise, glory to you."

In our common life together, we experience the profound divine mysteries of faith and the unity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Trinity exemplifies perfect harmony and love, a model for our community. As we honor the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, may we strive to embody these divine qualities in our interactions and relationships.

Let us carry this spirit of praise and thanksgiving in our hearts, celebrating the eternal glory of our Triune God and the blessed fellowship we share as a community of faith.
