Vestry Voice

February 6, 2026

Dear Saint Markans,

By now, you may have read this morning’s message from our Provost, Tim Kingsley, sharing that he has accepted a position with The Episcopal Church. If not, you can find Tim’s message here.

This opportunity is a wonderful match for Tim’s skills and experience in the area of logistics and risk management, and will allow him to share his expertise nationally, and even globally. Tim will be able to take on this national role while maintaining his home base here in Minnesota, and we’re grateful that he and his family will continue to be part of our faith community.

Accepting this new position means that Tim will soon begin a transition from full-time to part-time service as our Provost. We’re fortunate that he will be able to continue to serve part-time until our dean’s search committee, working with the Bishop, completes its work and we call our new dean. Tim will continue with us part-time until he and our new dean determine the right moment for him to pivot to full-time focus in his new role with the national Church.

Your Vestry recognizes that this announcement, though a wonderful opportunity for Tim, may create some anxiety, given that we’re in the midst of other changes. We want you to know that a deliberate and thoughtful transition plan is already underway and that your Vestry is working to ensure everyone in our parish feels informed and supported.

As the dean’s search committee continues its work, and during Tim’s transition to his new role, your Vestry pledges to provide regular updates and make sure you get answers to questions you may have. To start, we encourage you to reach out at seniorwarden@ourcathedral.org (for Mike) and juniorwarden@ourcathedral.org (for Rachel). Your Vestry will also create opportunities via in-person forums between services to discuss what’s next and what you can expect in the months ahead.

Beloved Saint Markans, change is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Please join me in congratulating Tim on his exciting new role. And as we walk through this season, we’ll do it together, grounded in our shared love of Christ and our resolution to bring God’s healing love to each other and to the world in which our parish plays a vital part.
