The Easter Vigil at the Cathedral begins outside on the Nave steps with the lighting of the new fire. Following the lighting of the Paschal candle, symbolizing the light of Christ entering the world, readings from the Bible recount the story of salvation history, leading up to the resurrection of Jesus. After the renewal of our Baptismal Vows we receive the first Eucharist of Easter.
The beauty of the cathedral, the music, the prayers, and the sense of community coming together to celebrate the resurrection makes this a truly memorable and meaningful occasion for all who participate.
