Author: Lesley Stahl

Reviewer: Mary Ramsbottom (wife of John) | Council member for SEND and Chair of Racial Equity and Justice Team at Saint Marks

Some people are perennially “late to the party”! Last among family and friends to finish schooling, own a car, buy a house, have a child. And now, at 70 years, welcoming a first grandchild in February 2023 with a grandson expected in September!

In this lovely book, veteran reporter Lesley Stahl helps new grandparents, great uncles and aunts, and friends of a certain age update their skills from Dr. Spock or Penelope Leach’s first editions. She reflects with warmth and humor on learning the “right way” to care for 21st century progeny, and the magic of watching your own children explore parenthood.

An easy and enjoyable read full of solid research and shared anecdotes. Not a bad idea for new parents to read, too…as if they had any time for that!
